The message was obvious as Canadians nationwide watched the votes be counted on April 28, 2025. Under Prime Minister Mark Carney's leadership, the Liberal Party has won another term, in spite of a close election. As a Liberal, I think this win offers an opportunity to keep creating a more evolving, inclusive Canada, as well as proof of liberal values.
Something felt different about this election. In light of the ongoing climate problem, economic pressures, and global uncertainty, Canadians were choosing leaders they could rely on during difficult times rather than simply party platforms. Mark Carney inspired me and many others because of his background in finance and his steadfast goal for a more equitable and green Canada. Although some might argue that the Liberals have held office long enough, I think the nation needs stability and consistency right now.
The Liberal goals strikes a balance between economic responsibility and improvement in society, which is why I support it. Policies like increasing the creation of clean energy, increasing access to mental health care, and investing in affordable housing are not just ideas; they are essential. Actions like these will influence my generation's and future generations' quality of life.
In the future, I hope the Liberal government prioritizes three important areas: young opportunity, affordability, and climate action. As a young Canadian, I personally can speak to how challenging it has gotten to find stable jobs or afford housing. It's time for the Liberals to act on their promises to fix these problems. More action on climate change is something else I want to see. I think the Liberals have the vision to move Canada toward becoming a global leader in sustainable innovation and clean technology.
No government is perfect, of course. If the Liberals fail, they will be harshly criticized, and with good reason. They do not, however, rely on division or fear like other parties do. They are giving people hope, and hope is important right now. During difficult economic times, Canada needs a calm, experienced leader like Mark Carney. He is a strong and reliable prime minister for the future because of his international experience and dedication to sustainable growth.
